What is shared between the Mac and iPad or iPhone versions of Clever Net Worth?

Clever Net Worth now works on both your Mac computer (desktop or laptop) and your iOS devices (iPhone and iPad).   If you have multiple device types that use the same AppleID, then there is some special linkage between the various versions: The 'Unlock Accounts' inApp that you have bought will work on all devices without having to pay for it a second or third time. As an example, if you bought the "Unlock Accounts" unlock on the iPad version of Clever Net Worth, this is also available for free on the Mac version of the same app.  To access it, just start the Mac version, tap on the 'Settings & Support' tab, tap on the first button in the list and the "Unlock Accounts" purchase screen will be displayed (which will initially have a price displayed). Then hit "RESTORE".  Your purchase from the iPad will be restored and applied to your Mac version!   However, all the account, balance and collection data is independent between your various d

P&F Charts - What is the Box Calc Direction and what difference does it make?

The standard approach to calculate the box price values in a Point and Figure Chart is to start the smallest value up.  This is the default.  But you can select From Largest on the Parameter screen should you wish to switch to using the top-down approach. For example, From Largest will take the highest data value plus a margin and then calculate the box values down the chart by subtracting the boxSize (or multiplying by 1 - boxSize% for logarithmic charts).  From Smallest starts with the lowest data value less a margin and calculates the box values by adding the boxSize (or multiplying by 1 + boxSize% for log charts). As with any P&F chart, changing the price values in the boxes can have an impact on the detailed shape of the chart and the emergence of buy and sell indicators.  Changing the direction in which the box values are calculated (especially for logarithmic charts) will change the values shown in the boxes (by a small amount).  Hence changing the box calculation direction

P&F Charts - How are the Horizontal & Vertical Price Targets calculated?

The P&F Charts can generate Vertical and Horizontal Counts to provide rough estimates of potential future price targets.  Note: price targets are indicative only and are not guaranteed to be attained. The methods used follow the same algorithms described in the ChartSchool web-pages as follows: Vertical Counts:  Click here to open Horizontal Counts:   Click here to open

P&F Charts - Where does the Stock Data come from?

P&F Charts sources all of its stock data from the Alpha Vantage service.  This is an amazing service which provides a huge range of daily stock prices for stocks, indices and currencies from all over the world.  See their website for further information.  It is also important to remember that AlphaVantage update the daily prices sometime after the close of trading for a specific stock.  If you want intraday data, try using an intraday interval (e.g. hourly).  You can change this on the Parameters screen for a specific stock in your watchlists. However, it sometimes (not very often) inexplicably drops a particular stock for some period of time.  The search will say they support it (and probably did until yesterday) but will report no data available when asked for the latest prices.  Unfortunately this is completely out of our control and Alpha Vantage unfortunately does not have a support capability that can answer questions about particular stock price availability.  If this happe

P&F Charts - iCloud syncing but no internet?

For starters this is an app that is designed to need the internet.  All stock prices are fetched and updated from our stock supplier via the internet.  However, if you already have stocks and prices loaded, you can still analyse the Point and Figure charts without internet data.  You can also setup new watchlists and change stock parameters or app colours.  However you cannot add new stocks or update the prices for existing ones. If you do add or update the watchlists, stock parameters or app colours when you do not have Internet access, these changes will stay local and of course not sync to your other devices. However, the iCloud syncing magic will kick in again once the Internet again becomes available. Image by IO-Images  from Pixabay

P&F Charts - no prices?

Sometimes you may see a stock reflected in a watchlist that shows NO prices like in the example above. This happens when you have added a new stock on a different device connected to the same iCloud account.  The stock details have synced but the price data does not (by design).  Just tap on the stock and the app will automatically try and fetch all the price data from our stock supplier for you.

P&F Charts - What is needed to get iCloud synching to work?

For successful syncing of data between your devices you need: More than 1 iOS device - e.g. an iPhone and an iPad The app installed on each device Each device logged into the same iCloud account - see the top of the Apple “Settings” screen for where this is located iCloud Drive is enabled on each device Point and Figure Charts has access to iCloud Each device to have Internet access NOTE: you can choose to store data on a particular device locally and not on iCloud. See this post to get a visual walkthrough of enabling these elements.

P&F Charts - What is iCloud Syncing?

P&F Charts performs automatic syncing of most of the app’s data between all your iOS and Mac devices connected to the same iCloud account.  It works as shown in the above diagram. All the app’s data (except for the stock prices) are kept in sync via your own iCloud account - automatically.  This means that changes made on one device will within a minute or so appear on the other without you having to do anything. Examples of things that sync automatically: Watchlists:  add, rename or delete Stocks, Forex or Crypto Currencies: add, delete or move between watch lists Stock Parameters: changed display name Point and Figure Chart Parameters: e.g. box size and months of data to chart Line Chart Parameters: e.g. SMA or EMA, display precision Chart Colours: e.g. PnF chart Support Line colour, Line chart Top Fill colour Note: the price data for a given stock is saved locally.  However it is easily updated on all devices as needed.   Note 2: using iCloud is the default option but you can ch

P&F Charts - No iCloud? Stocks gone?

Have your stocks disappeared?  It is probably because you either: Are not logged into iCloud, or You are logged in but Point and Figure Charts does not have access. You chose to use Local instead of iCloud. You are logged in but don’t have iCloud Drive enabled. You can tell if the app is using iCloud by looking for the iCloud symbol on the Watchlists screen - like next to the number 1 below. This means you are using iCloud to store your data.  If it has a slash through it like the one below next to the number 4, it means the app is using Local storage and not iCloud. If you wish to use iCloud but are getting the iCloud with a slash, try these things… Tap the iCloud with a slash button and let the app take you to the Settings page and try changing to use iCloud (see the instructions here for doing this). If you get the message that you are not logged onto iCloud, then proceed to step 2. Check you are logged in to iCloud.  Exit the app and open the Apple Settings App and look at the top

Does 'P&F Charts' support intraday (e.g. real-time or 15 min) data?

YES - P&F Charts allows you to fetch data in intraday time intervals (choose from 1min, 5min, 15min, 30min or 60min) for stocks, foreign exchange and crypto currencies (where available).  Intraday data for Cryptocurrencies was added as an option from v2.0. You can also use daily, weekly or monthly data for all stock types. Image  Image by Tomasz Miko┼éajczyk  from Pixabay
